Chenault Fans 15, Silveira Delivers Clutch Hit as Hancock Beats Porterville 1-0

Katie Chenault tied a season-high with 15 strikeouts and freshman Teanna Silveira drove in the only run of the game as the Allan Hancock College softball team defeated Porterville 1-0 during the second day of Ventura College's Tournament on Sunday. Hancock extended its winning streak to 21 games and improved to 23-2-1 overall.
Chenault allowed three hits and walked two hitters in the victory. She struck out 15 to increase her weekend total to 42 over 21 innings in three Hancock wins.
Hancock and Porterville had three hits apiece. Silveira delivered the most important, a two-out single to center in the second to drive in freshman center fielder Judith Salazar who had led off the inning with a single and moved to second when third baseman Ashley Ruiz was hit by a pitch.
Ruiz singled in the fourth to account for the third Hancock hit.

The Bulldogs face Glendale at 3 p.m. to complete play at the two-day tournament.
