Hancock Swimming Heads to WSC#3 at Cuesta on Friday

The women's swim team will return to action after a one-week break from meets. The Bulldogs will compete in their third Western State Conference five-team meet on Friday, April 1, at Cuesta. The Bulldogs will face Bakersfield, Santa Barbara, Ventura and the host Cougars.

The Bulldogs are coming off a second-place finish at a WSC meet hosted by Ventura College. Freshman Alexandria Kwong (Orcutt Academy) won two events taking first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.41, and touched first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.32. Madalena Diaz (Pioneer Valley HS) finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:11.64, and second in the 500-yard butterfly with a time of 5:36.90. Rebecca Gonzalez (Nipomo HS) came in third in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:45.75 and second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:12.43. Kwong, Diaz, Gonzalez and Nikki Gurgiolo (Righetti HS) teamed up to lead the Bulldogs to a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.88.
