Roux Wins Diving Competition During WSC Pentathlon

Freshman diver Kailey Roux won the women's 1m springboard competition to highlight the effort of the Allan Hancock College women's swimming and diving team during the Western State Conference Pentathlon on Friday at the Ventura Aquatic Center.

All ten women's teams from the conference participated in the non-scoring meet where each athlete swam 100 yards in five events: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and individual medley.

Roux won with a total score of 204.95, nearly 100 points ahead of the second-place finisher.

With nearly 90 swimmers competing on the women's side, sophomore swimmer Meagan Stevens earned four top-13 finishes. She finished 11th in the 100-yard freestyle (59.45), ninth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.94), 23rd in the breaststroke (1:23.11), 13th in the butterfly and 12th in the 100 individual medley (1:10.18).

Freshman Haylee Hernandez earned three top-17 finishes. She placed 15th in the backstroke (1:10.82) and in the 100 I.M. (1:12.02), and 17th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.64).

Hancock will return to action Friday, March 2 in the first five-team Western State Conference meet of the season at Ventura College.
