Rugg Finishes 12th During WSC#3
Freshman Jett Rugg finished 12th in the individual standings as the Allan Hancock College men's golf team came in sixth during the third Western State Conference tournament on the season on Monday. Ventura College hosted WSC#3 at the River Ridge Country Club in Oxnard.
Rugg fired a seven-over 79 to lead a contingent of five Bulldogs. Hancock freshman Eddie Aldridge carded a 10-over 82, while freshman Daniel Nelson shot an 84, followed by Matt Salisbury with an 87. Josiah Sanchez, a sophomore, fired a 94.
None of the 51 golfers shot under par. Freshman Nobuhiko Wakaari of College of the Canyons earned medalist honors with an even-par 72.
Canyons won its first WSC tournament of the season with a total score of 371. SBCC finished second at 382, followed by Ventura (399), Glendale (402), Bakersfield (413), Hancock in sixth (426), Antelope Valley in seventh (451), and Citrus in eighth (474). Victor Valley did not have the required five golfers to qualify in the team standings.
The Bulldogs will travel to Valencia next week for WSC#4 hosted by College of the Canyons.
