Nelson Leads Bulldogs at WSC#4, Hancock Finishes Sixth

Freshman Daniel Nelson shot the lowest round of the day among five Bulldogs to help the Allan Hancock College men's golf team finish sixth during the fourth Western State Conference tournament of the season on Monday. College of the Canyons hosted WSC#4 at the Valencia Country Club.

Nelson finished with a 12-over 83. Freshmen Eddie Aldridge and Matt Salisbury each carded an 86. Sophomore Jett Rugg finished with an 88 and Josiah Sanchez shot a 90.

Nobuhiko Waakari of Canyons medaled, shooting a three-under 69 on his home course, the Valencia Country Club. His teammate Jules Lavigne was second with a 72.

Canyons totaled 381 strokes, while Santa Barbara was second with 392. Ventura finished third at 405, followed by Glendale (418), Bakersfield (429), Hancock in sixth with 433, Antelope Valley (446), Citrus (513), and Victor Valley (no score).

With the win, College of the Canyons moved into a tie for first place with SBCC at 29-3 on the season. The Bulldogs are in sixth place at 12-20, five back of Bakersfield, and four ahead of Antelope Valley.
