Rugg Places Seventh Overall on Home Course, Bulldogs Finish Sixth at WSC#5

Sophomore Jett Rugg shot the seventh-lowest round of the day to lead the Allan Hancock College men's golf team to a sixth-place finish during the fifth Western State Conference tournament of the season. The Bulldogs hosted the tournament at the Santa Maria Country Club on Monday.

Rugg shot a four-over round of 76 for the Bulldogs. Freshman Matt Salisbury carded an 86, while freshmen Daniel Nelson and Eddie Aldridge finished with rounds of 87. Sophomore Josiah Sanchez ended the day 19-over with a 91.

Antelope Valley's Brennen Boulger took home medalist honors with a 72. Canyons freshmen Nobuhiko Wakaari and Jack Greene tied for second with rounds of 74.

College of the Canyons edged Santa Barbara City College in the team standings 379 to 389. Ventura finished third at 398, followed by Bakersfield (409), Glendale (416), Hancock in sixth (427), Antelope Valley (434), and Citrus in eighth (493).

By winning the event, Canyons stayed atop the standings at 37-3 with SBCC in second at 36-4.

The Bulldogs will return to action at WSC#7 at Antelope Valley Country Club.
