Nelson and Rugg Finish in Top 15 at WSC#7

Allan Hancock College's Jett Rugg finished 12th overall, while Daniel Nelson tied for 15th out of nearly 50 golfers during the seventh Western State Conference tournament of the season on Monday. The 18-hole tournament was hosted by Victor Valley at the Spring Valley Lake Golf Course in Victorville.

Rugg fired a four-over 76 on the day, while Nelson, a freshman and Righetti High School graduate, carded six-over 78.

College of the Canyons took the top two individual spots during WSC#7. Canyons' Matthew Mansholt fired a four-under 68 to win medalist honors, while his teammate Nobuhiko Wakaari finished second with a 69.

Overall, Canyons won the event with 361 total strokes. It's the defending conference champion's fifth straight WSC tournament win of the year. Santa Barbara City College finished second with 370, followed by Ventura with 382, Glendale with 389, and Bakersfield with 390. Bakersfield finished fifth with 390, ahead of Antelope Valley (415) and Citrus (425). Hancock and Victor Valley did not have the required five golfers to qualify for the team scores.
