MEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN SECOND ROUND OF AHC TOURNEY
SANTA MARIA -- The second round of the Ahc Tournament proved a little tougher for the Bulldog Men's soccer team. AHC fell 5-1 to Evergreen Valley Community College, Saturday afternoon on the AHC Campus.
Outshooting and outrunning the Bulldogs in the first half, EVCC led 3-0 at halftime. The game was played evenly in the second half until EVCC scored again to make it 4-0.
Hancock finally made it on the scoreboard when Arturo Guerrero (Fr., Righetti HS) took a feed from Jose Olivera (Fr., Santa Maria HS) in the 80th minute to score his second of the year. EVCC finished off the scoring in the 83rd minute.
Evergreen Valley will play in the championship game on Sunday, September 5 at 2:00 p.m. against Taft, who defeated Santa Barbara City College 3-1 on Saturday. The Bulldogs, who fell to 1-2-0 on the season, will play Spokane (WA) at 10:00 a.m. for third place. In the consolation championship, West Hills will take on Santa Barbara at noon.
After the tournament, AHC will hit the road with a visit to Hartnell on Wednesday, September 8. The next home game will be Tuesday, September 14 when the Bulldogs host College of the Canyons at 4:00 p.m., immediately following a women's matchup at 2:00 p.m. featuring the same two schools.
