MEN'S SOCCER FALLS ON FIRST ROAD TRIP, 2-1
SALINAS -- In its first road trip of the season, the Allan Hancock Collge men's soccer team fought hard, but came up just short in a 2-1 loss at Hartnell.
Hancock (1-4-0) fell behind 2-0 in the first 20 minutes, but the Bulldog defense shut the Panthers down from that point on. Forward Felix Ramirez (Fr., Santa Maria HS) scored in the 40th minute to cut the lead in half.
AHC has played a tough pre-season schedule in preparation for Western State Conference play. Coach Al Garcia was pleased with the way his young squad played against a Northern California powerhouse that last week defeated nationally ranked Fresno City College, 5-2.
Hancock opens Western State Conference play on Tuesday, when the Bulldogs host College of the Canyons at 4:00 p.m. on the campus field. The game will be the second of a doubleheader, as the the AHC women host the lady Cougars at 2:00 p.m.
