MEN'S SOCCER GOES OUT A WINNER, 1-0
SANTA MARIA-- Coach Al Garcia's Allan Hancock College men's soccer team won its final game of the 2004 season on Monday, 1-0 over visiting Citrus College.
Hancock (3-14-3, 2-9-3 WSC) took a 1-0 lead into the intermission, then outlasted the Owls in a hard-fought second half. The Bulldogs' two sophomores were instrumental in the defensive battle. Goalkeeper George Hunter finished with eight saves, while midfielder John Boswell played a strong game to keep the ball out of the Hancock zone.
The Bulldog goal was scored in the 38th minute on an assisting pass from David Jauregui (Fr., Santa Maria) to forward Felix Rameriz (Fr., Santa Maria). Coach Garcia also singled out the play of midfielder Jauquin Martinez (Fr., Santa Maria).
