MEN'S SOCCER REMAINS IN HUNT AFTER SHUTTING OUT GLENDALE

SANTA MARIA-- With a convincing 3-0 shutout of Glendale on their home field, the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team remained in the chase for the Western State Conference North championship.

Hancock (8-8-6, 6-5-1 WSC North) took a lead early in the match and were never truly threatened. Victor Velasco (Fr., Santa Maria HS) opened the scoring in the 8th minute of the first half on a free kick, and the Bulldogs held a 1-0 lead at the half. In the second half, Francisco Chavez (Fr., Righetti HS) sent a long lead pass to Edgar Miranda (Fr., Santa Maria) who scored the second goal of the day in the 71st minute. Alex Guererro (Fr., Righetti) scored the final goal in the 86th minute after a pass from Matt McDonald (Fr., Lompoc HS).

It was another fine effort from goalkeeper Jose Perez (Fr., Santa Ynez HS). Perez made six saves in very wet conditions.

The Bulldogs will next travel to Santa Clarita on Friday, Nov. 11 to take on the College of the Canyons at 3:00 p.m.
