SALINAS-- The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team won their second straight shoot-out, this time over West Valley, to move into the finals of the Hartnell Soccer Tournament.
Hancock (0-0-2) earned their second tie in a row when Jose Perez scored a goal in the second half to tie the game , 1-1. Perez (Fr., Santa Ynez) started the match in goal, but was moved to the front line by coach Al Garcia in the second half. He scored on a pass from Edgar Miranda (Fr., Santa Maria).
Ivan Gomez (Fr., Nipomo) scored the winning shot in the penalty shot phase, which determined who would move on in the championship bracket of the tournament.
The Bulldogs will play in the championship on Sunday, Sept. 4 against Hartnell.
