Men's Soccer Hosts Canyons Tuesday In WSC Showdown

The men's soccer team returns home this week to host College of the Canyons on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 4:30 p.m. They'll play at Moorpark on Friday, Oct. 2. The Bulldogs, and both of their opponents this week are still looking for their first Western State Conference win of the season.

The Cougars from College of the Canyons are 0-2-1 in league and 0-4-2 overall, while Moorpark starts 0-4 overall.  In its six games, Canyons has scored a total of five goals and allowed 10.  Moorpark plays three matches this week. So far this season, the Raiders have been outscored 19 to one.

Hancock went 0-1-1 last week in its two conference matches. The Bulldogs sprinted out to a 2-0 lead at home against Glendale behind two goals from sophomore forward Adrian Diaz (Cabrillo HS) within the first eight minutes of the match. However, Glendale tied it with two scores within two minutes of each other midway through the first half. Diaz netted his third goal of the half in the 41st minute on a ball assisted by freshman Tyson Perkins.  Diaz became the first Bulldog to complete a hat trick in at least three years. Glendale scored the equalizer in the 54th minute as the two teams ended in a 3-3 draw.

Last Friday, the Bulldogs traveled to Santa Monica and lost 3-0.

Overall, Diaz is Hancock's leading scorer with four goals. Six other players have one goal apiece. Mario Ramos (Righetti HS) has two assists to lead the Bulldogs.
