Men's Soccer Hosts Santa Monica Tuesday to Open Penultimate Week of Season

The men's soccer team will open its second-to-last week of the season with a home match on Tuesday, November 1, at 4 p.m. against Santa Monica. The Bulldogs will travel to Moorpark on Friday, November 4.  Both Western State Conference matches will start at 4 p.m. Hancock is 1-5 in conference and 3-12-2 overall.

Last week, Hancock fell 3-1 at L.A. Mission before losing at home to Santa Barbara 6-2. After a scoreless first half, L.A. Mission scored three times within a 10-minute period. Jorge Guzman (Righetti HS) scored Hancock's goal in the 69^th minute on a ball assisted by freshman Migel Gomez (Cabrillo HS). Santa Barbara scored four goals in the first half, including three within a four-minute period. Gomez and Guzman scored once for the Bulldogs. Gomez and Federico Baldan (Nipomo HS) were credited with one assist in the match.

Hancock fell 5-1 at Santa Monica, and defeated Moorpark 2-1 in their previous meetings. Adonis Osua (Cabrillo HS) and Juan Pino (Paso Robles HS) scored their first goals of the season to lead the Bulldogs to the win over Moorpark. Sophomore Bernardo Rubio (Cabrillo HS) found the back of the net against Santa Monica.

Gomez leads the team with nine goals and nine assists this season. Guzman has eight goals for the Bulldogs.

Santa Monica opens the week 2-1-3 in conference and 9-4-5 overall. Santa Monica is fourth in the conference standings. Romario Hulea leads the team with six goals, and Chris Negrete has scored five times. Moorpark is 0-5-1 in league and 3-9-3 on the season.
