Celio and Two Others Score, Hancock Defeats College of Sequoias 3-1 in Season Opener

Josue Celio, Eduardo Rodriguez and Edgar Vasquez score goals to lead the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team past College of the Sequoias 3-1. This win marks the fifth consecutive win against Sequoias since 2015. The Bulldogs improve to 1-0 on the season.

Celio, a freshman midfielder opened up the scoring in the 48th minute off the pass from Salvador Andrade.

Rodriguez, a Santa Maria Graduate secured the win for the Bulldogs with his 53rd minute goal off the feed from Nikolai Glass.

The scoring did not end there when St. Joseph High School graduate Vasquez scored an unassisted goal in the 68th minute to put Hancock up 3-0.

Sequoias rallied in the 72nd minute to score its first goal of the game. But, it was not enough as the Bulldog defense closed out the game.

Returning goalkeeper Maisen Baro provided a strong presence in the net with four saves.

The Bulldogs travel to Las Vegas for the Las Vegas Showcase. They play College of Southern Nevada Thursday, August 29th at 8:00 PM. Hancock will go on to play Utah State University Eastern Saturday at 12:00 PM
