Bulldogs Open League Action with Decisive Win Over Moorpark

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer program opened Western State Conference play with a decisive 5-1 victory at home against Moorpark College on Tuesday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

Jose Espinoza started the scoring rally after beating Moorpark's keeper and taking a shot at the lower-right portion of the box in the 41st minute. Braden Johnson added to the effort just four minutes later by connecting with a cross from Jose Perez to close the half. Perez and Jesus Hinojosa doubled the cushion for the Bulldogs (2-7-2, 1-0 WSC) with goals in the 63rd and 68th minutes, respectively. Perez registered his tally by sending a contested shot through to the back of the net while Hinojosa's goal came after a successful penalty kick attempt. The Raiders (0-9-2, 0-1 WSC) snuck in a goal at the 83-minute mark before Perez knocked in his second score of the night thanks to a pass from Diego Cardenas in the 85th.

Hancock outshot the visitors at a slim 15-14 margin while both programs placed seven attempts on target. Perez led the assault for AHC with three shots on frame while Espinoza, Hinojosa, Braden Johnson, and Kevin Gutierrez each recorded one. Luis Garcia snagged six saves and allowed one goal through 90 minutes of work in the box, earning both the start and the win.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action with another conference showing on Friday, October 14th, on the road against Oxnard College.
