Men's Soccer Drops Close Contest at Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team fell in a 3-2 decision on the road against Santa Barbara City College on Friday evening. | BOX SCORE

Jose Baro put the Bulldogs (3-13-3, 2-6-1 WSC) on the board after connecting with a cross from Jesus Hinojosa in the opening minute of play. Santa Barbara (11-4-4, 6-3-0 WSC) bounced back with a goal in the 21st minute before surging ahead with a pair of scores over the next three minutes of action. Hancock had an opportunity to cut the deficit after being awarded a penalty kick in the 65th minute but was unable to successfully convert the try. Jose Perez closed out the scoring for both sides with an unassisted shot through the goal in the 76th.

Offensive production was lopsided in the Western State Conference affair as the Varqueors registered 19 shots compared to Hancock's nine tries. Hector Villa led the way for Coach Vinnedge's squad with two shots on target, followed by one apiece from Perez and Baro. Luis Garcia served as Hancock's keeper for 90 minutes, collecting six saves and allowing three goals through 90 minutes of action.

Up next for the Bulldogs is a trip to Santa Monica College on Tuesday, November 8th, for the final road trip of the regular season.
