Men's Soccer Shuts Out LA Mission in Sophomore Day Victory

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team closed the 2022 campaign by thumping Los Angeles Mission College, 8-0, on Sophomore Day at the AHC Soccer Field. | BOX SCORE

Cristian Aparicio put the Bulldogs (4-13-3, 3-6-1 WSC) on the board after a successful penalty kick attempt in the 13th minute after Misson's keeper was presented with a red card following a "last man" foul in the box. Jose Espinoza doubled the deficit for the Eagles (0-14-7, 0-6-4 WSC) by sending a deflection through the right side for his first of two scores. Jesus Hinojosa registered the third and final goal of the first half after quick passing from Sean Soltan and Eric Diaz led him to the goal. 

Jose Perez headlined the second half of action with a hat trick by scoring goals in the 56th, 68th, and 88th minutes. His first tally came after a free kick by Hinojosa while the second and third goals were unassisted. Diaz added to the offensive assault with an unassisted shot through the net in the 74th. Espinoza used a long feed from Perez to register his second notch of the day, and final goal of the game, during the added stoppage time allotment. 

As a team, Hancock outshot the Eagles at a 32-12 margin while also owning the edge of the field with a 5-3 advantage on the corners. Luis Garcia was credited with the shutout victory in the box for the Bulldogs after gathering three saves through 90 minutes of action.
