Men's Soccer Snaps Skid with Sophomore Day Win Over SBCC

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's soccer team snapped the losing streak with a 4-1 victory over Santa Barbara City College on Friday afternoon in the Western State Conference upset.

Prior to the game, the team honored 17 athletes who would go on to compete in their final home game at the AHC Soccer Field. The group of honorees included Luis Garcia, Daniel Quevedo, Josh Rojas, Noe Gaona, Oscar Monroy, Hector Villa, Landon Smith, Jose Herrera, Diego Cardenas, Tanner Sizemore, Braden Johnson, Juan Beas, Mark Hutchinson, Edgar Garces, Manuel Osorio, Hayden Mathieu, and Diego Aldama.

Garces put Hancock (4-13-2, 1-6-1) on the board in the 28th minute after sending a pass from Smith into the back of the net. The Vaqueros (8-6-4, 4-4-0) leveled the score with a goal of their own in the 43rd, but Erick Jimenez recorded the eventual game-winner just two minutes later with an assist from Garces before the halftime break. 

Jimenez doubled the deficit for SBCC in the 78th with the help of Johnson before Hutchison used a pass from Gaona to end the scoring for both sides in the 80th. 

Garcia collected the win in the box after allowing one goal and collecting four saves through a full 90 minutes of action. 

The Bulldogs are set to close out the season on the road with a trip to Santa Monica College on November 7th before a matchup against LA Mission College in the season finale on November 10th.
