UPDATE: Men's Soccer All-Conference Selections Adjusted, Baro Named Co-Offensive Player of the Year
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Despite struggling through the league slate, the Allan Hancock College men's soccer program saw six athletes pick up postseason awards from the Western State Conference (North). The award winners, which were originally announced on November 20th, have been updated after a recount following the league's voting procedures.
Joe Baro led the way for the program as the league's Co-Offensive Player of the Year selection. The sophomore forward tallied six goals and three assists en route to 15 points on the season. Baro is the first athlete to receive the superlative award since Migel Gomez in 2017 and is just the fifth overall in program history.
The recent adjustment moved Benny Nicolas up to the First Team All-Conference list. The freshman defender from Lompoc served as a pillar of stability for AHC's backline throughout the season after starting in all 21 contests on the season.
Erick Jimenez and Max Brewster landed on the Second Team All-Conference list. Jimenez, a sophomore from Lompoc, racked up seven goals and four assists while battling through limited time down the stretch due to a late-season injury. Brewster stepped in as the primary keeper for the Bulldogs and collected 80 saves with a final save percentage of 70.2 in the box.
Robert Torres and Caleb Toledo rounded out the honorees with All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition. Torres saw action in 20 contests on the season as a defender while also notching two goals and two assists. Toledo notched 10 points on the season with five goals, including one game-winner.
The Bulldogs closed the season with an overall record of 7-11-3 while placing fifth in the league standings after a 2-7-1 finish against WSC foes.
