Bio

In 14 years at the helm of the Allan Hancock College men’s soccer program, Garcia has led the Bulldogs to three Western State Conference championships including back-to-back titles in 2001 and 2002. He coached three conference most valuable players, collected three WSC Coach of the Year awards and elevated his program to national-elite status. He also led the Santa Maria High School boy’s soccer team to the CIF-Southern Section, Division IV Championship in the spring of 2005.

Garcia has coached the sport for more than 22 years and has experienced success at every level. In 14 seasons of coaching both boys and girls high school teams, he qualified for CIF-Southern Section playoff appearances every year and racked up over 200 wins.

A native of Chile, South America, Garcia holds an instructional diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in addition to a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “C-level” coaching license. He is a member of the Santa Maria Interscholastic Soccer Organization (SIMSO) advisory board and also serves on the NSCAA All-American Committee for the state of California.

A graduate of Fresno State University, Garcia was a scholarship athlete who participated in football, soccer and track and field. Following his college graduation in 1977, he was drafted as a place-kicker by the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League. Garcia attended La Mirada High School and Cerritos College before transferring to Fresno State in 1974.
