Hancock Women Head to SBCC to Open Final Week of Season

The women's basketball team closes out the regular season with two conference games, starting Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Santa Barbara before finishing on Saturday, Feb. 20, at home against Oxnard.

The Bulldogs are coming off a dominant 70-42 win over LA Pierce to improve to 3-7 in conference and 11-15 overall. Ali Rodriguez led the Bulldogs with 21 points, while freshman Marissa Torres, a Templeton High School graduate, scored a career-high 19 points to go with six rebounds. Celina Calderon, a sophomore guard from Lompoc, added 10 points.

Last month, Hancock fell 59-52 to SBCC and overcame a 16-point halftime deficit to defeat Oxnard 50-44. SBCC starts the week in fourth place at 4-6 in conference and 9-16 overall. Oxnard is in sixth place, behind Hancock, at 2-8 in conference and 2-18 for the season.

Hancock has an opportunity to finish the season with five conference wins, which would be the program's highest conference win total since it went 6-6 in league during the 2002-03 season.
