Hancock Women's Basketball Ends Season Wednesday at Cuesta

The women's basketball will look to end its 2015-16 season on a winning note. The Bulldogs, who have lost five in a row, wrap up their schedule on Wednesday, February 17, at Cuesta College. Tip off will be at 5 p.m. Hancock enters the season finale at 4-7 in Western State Conference play and 15-11 overall. The Bulldogs have are one win ahead of the sixth-place Cougars in the standings.

Hancock defeated the Cougars in Santa Maria 56-43 last month behind 17 points and five rebounds from sophomore guard Marissa Torres (Templeton HS). Forward Kelly McClain poured in 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Syenna Ramirez (St. Joseph HS) added 11 points.

The Bulldogs are coming off two conference losses, a 69-32 loss to Ventura and a 58-51 defeat at LA Pierce.  Destinee Garcia led the Bulldogs with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Ashley Daher added 10 for the Bulldogs against the Pirates. Last Saturday, McClain recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 boards. Michaila Miller (Santa Barbara HS) added eight points and eight rebounds.

Overall, Ramirez leads the team in scoring at 16.7 points per game. McClain and Garcia are averaging 8.3 points apiece.
