
Hancock Women's Basketball Travels to L.A. Harbor Friday
The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team will hit the road to play at L.A. Harbor at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 11. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 53-36 win at home against L.A. Southwest.
During the opener, Hancock sophomore forward Destinee Garcia (Golden West HS) recorded a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Freshman guard Karly Beyers (Pioneer Valley HS) poured in 16 points on 7-for-19 shooting to go with four rebounds. Freshman forward Naomi Leopardi (Big Sandy HS) pulled down 11 rebounds in her Hancock debut to go with five points. Freshman center Grace Rosa (Paso Robles HS) had eight points, seven rebounds and two steals for the Bulldogs. Sophomore guard Syenna Ramirez (St. Joseph HS), an All-Conference last season, added six points and seven assists. The Hancock defense held L.A. Southwest to 26 percent shooting from the floor. Hancock shot 43 percent from the field despite a 1-for-19 effort from 3-point territory.
L.A. Harbor opened the season with a 65-60 win after outscoring West LA by six points in the fourth quarter. Harbor held West LA to 28 percent shooting from the floor and forced 36 turnovers in the victory.
