Bramble Wins Event, Nelson and Bondy Finish in Top Five During Bulldogs' Historic Home Meet

Leanna Bramble won one event and finished second in another, while Bailey Nelson and Natalie Bondy each added Top Five finishes to highlight a fifth place finish during a historic Western State Conference meet on Saturday. The meet at the Paul Nelson Aquatics Center was the first home meet in program history.

Hancock finished fifth in the team standings with 227 total points. Santa Barbara won with 391 points, followed by Bakersfield with 335, Ventura with 325, and Cuesta with 257.

Bramble won the women's 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.94 and finished second in the 200 yard freestyle at 2:02.88. Nelson finished fourth in the 1000 yard freestyle with a season-best time 12:36.58 and sixth in the 500 free at 6:03.09, a new career-best time. Bondy, a freshman, came in fifth in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.52 and sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:16.35. Sophomore Caija McNeil also finished sixth in the 1000 free with a time of 13:17.82.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, March 28, in a five-way conference meet at Santa Barbara City College.
