Hancock Track and Field Wins Six Events at Bakersfield Relays
Taylor Nevitt and Luke Nickelson both won two events, while Darrylnotay Hines and Monica Pulido won one to lead the Allan Hancock College track and field team's effort during the Bakersfield Relays on Saturday. The event, which also included athletes from Cal State Bakersfield, was a non-scoring meet.
Nevitt won the women's shot put event with a mark of 37 feet, 11.5 inches. The Nipomo High School graduate also took the discus throw event with a mark of 127-1. She finished fourth in the hammer throw at 96-9 and second in the javelin throw at 77 feet. Pulido won the javelin throw event with a top mark of 79-6.
Nickelson won the men's long jump title with a mark of 22 feet, ¾ inch; and the triple jump crown with a distance of 43-10.5. He finished fourth overall in the high jump by clearing 6-2, which ranked first among community college athletes.
Hines won the men's javelin event with a top throw of 135-1.
Jaylin Amerson finished third in the men's 100 meter dash with a time of 11.67 seconds, edging fellow Bulldog Dy'Kari Hickey, who finished fourth, in 11.69 seconds. Hickey later ran 23.46 seconds in the 200 meter dash, which was third best on the day.
Freshman middle distance runner Alec De Leon finished fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.84, and fourth in the 1,500 meter at 4:12.89.
On the women's side, Rachel Naugle finished fourth in the 800 meter run at 2:35.52, and third in the 1,500 with a time of 5:07.98.
The Bulldogs return to action Friday, March 18 at Antelope Valley College.
